I had a really lovely time at the opening reception at Oklahoma Contemporary the other day! It was so nice to meet many people in Oklahoma City.
The show looks beautiful. Because of the L-shaped gallery space and the dark room at the hidden corner, the works reveal gradually as we walk though, which evokes excitement. I like the reflections of the works on the newly waxed floor, too. The Learning Gallery activities created by the gallery education team looks well-thought-out and makes me feel so honored. I can't wait to see how the interactive pieces will look like at the end of the show.
A Thread X (Meets) A Thread
I saw many families including little ones adding threads to my piece, "A Thread X A Thread." Here are some beautiful faces that I found at the opening reception.
I am going to post photos of other works and the Learning Gallery in the next couple of blogs.
Many other events are planned by the gallery. Curator talks led by Oklahoma Contemporary Curatorial and Exhibition Director Jennifer Scanlan are planned for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10 and Aug. 7. Additional gallery talks are scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 12, June 19, June 26, July 17, July 24, and July 31.
"Sojourning Threads," a chamber music piece in response to my four installations composed by Daniel Racer is going to be performed at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. I will be there for this music event.
I am really thankful to the gallery and the people in Oklahoma City for supporting this show!
