Huaca Pucllana
Ruins of the Lima culture, which flourished around 600 AD. Built with sun-dried bricks. Excavations are still ongoing.

紀元後600年頃に栄えたリマ文化の遺跡。日干し煉瓦を積み上げて作られている。まだ現在も発掘が続いているらしい。

To get to Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés, there is a shortcut through here, so I went there many times. It is really huge.

Japanese garden of Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés
There are trees planted by princesses, including Princess Kako and former Princess Mako. Staff at the culture center called this garden the Princess Garden.
日秘文化会館の日本庭園 佳子様と眞子様など、内親王殿下の植えられた木もあります。会館の人はプリンセスガーデンと呼んでいました。
Biblioteca Elena Kohatsu Library at Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés
You can find many books in Japanese including children's books and manga. I think this is pretty rare even in both North and South America.
日秘文化会館内にあるエレナ・コーハツ図書館。児童書や漫画も含め、日本語の本がいっぱい。南北アメリカ大陸合わせてもかなり珍しいのでは。
My first haircut in South America. She spoke a little English, and I managed to get by with a translation app on my smartphone. 南米での初めてのヘアカット。彼女も少し英語を話す方だったし、スマホの翻訳アプリでなんとか切り抜けました。
We were invited to attend a concert by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Training Squadron Band at the Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés in conjunction with the official visit of the JMSDF to Peru. Such opportunities are rare. We gratefully accepted the invitation and attended the concert. The concert featured the national anthems of Peru and Japan, as well as nostalgic Peruvian and Japanese songs, and some from anime songs. It was my first time hearing the Peruvian national anthem, so it was a learning experience, including the final chant. We were also invited to the subsequent banquet, where we enjoyed a buffet-style meal featuring Peruvian, Nikkei, and Chaufa-style dishes all at once. I took a sip of alcohol drinks such as pisco sour and algarrobina, and algarrobina was good. I was able to visit some young naval officers. Thank you for protecting the seas of Japan and the world! After this, they were traveling to Chile, Argentina, and Brazil and heading to North America. I also had the opportunity to interact with staff from the Japanese Consulate and young people actively involved in the Peruvian Japanese community.
日本の海上自衛隊のペルー正式訪問にあたり開催された、日秘文化会館での海上自衛隊音楽隊コンサートにお招きいただきました。このような機会に触れるのはあまりないことなので、ありがたく行ってきました。ペルー、日本の国歌をはじめ、両国の懐かしい曲や、アニメソングまで演奏されました。ペルーの国歌を聞くのは初めてだったので、最後の掛け声含め、勉強になりました。その後の会食にも呼んでいただいたので、ビュッフェスタイルで、ペルー料理、Nikkei風、チャウファ風の食べ物を一気にいただきました。ピスコサワーとアルガロビーナのアルコール飲料を、一口ずつ試したみただけですが、特にアルガロビーナが美味しかったです。若い海軍兵の皆さんと少しお話ししました。日本の海、世界の海を守ってくれてありがとうございます。この後、チリ、アルゼンチン、ブラジルを経由し、北米の方に回っていくということでした。また日本領事館の職員の方々や、ペルー日系コミュニティーに積極的に関わっていこうとしているペルー人の青年達とも交流できました。
