Launch Party of the Front Porch Project at Old Mill Tasty Shop

My daughter Sarah and I had lot of fun at the launch party of the Front Porch Project at Old Mill Tasty shop.  We were in costumes inspired by Old Mill's delicious banana split.  Thank you for stopping by everyone!  Here are the links to Wichita Eagle's article on this project and KAKE News TV coverage on the event. If you missed it, don't worry, the front porch is going to stay there for one year!

The Process of Making the Front Porch at Old Mill Tasty Shop 4

 Working with sun shade sails

We went to check the sails day and night until we got the right length.

We also went to buy plants which go to the planters.  Considering the location of the porch and the timing of the year, we chose this plant Angelina Stonecrop Sedum which should survive all year long and in extreme heat and direct sunlight. It should turn orange/brown in the fall and may create yellow flowers in the summer.

We added a DIY self watering system to each planter, which should help alleviate the number of times of the watering.

Sun shade sails are up with the help of Farah Construction.  We barely made it in the morning of the launch party!  So happy!

It looks nice as we planned!

Front Porch Project flag was installed, too!  We are ready for the launch party!

Farha Construction installed large elements such as the miniature Dutch mill paddles and top blue disc.  The miniature Dutch mill paddles were crafted by NMW Crafts in the town of Perrinton, MI.

At The Yard Store, Wichita's famous hardware & tools store, you can often find hidden treasures.  We found red webbings that seem to go well with the ridges of the chairs and color of the sun shade sails.

Old Mill's root beer floats and strawberry malts.  They were heavenly in hot weather!
